and this is why we LOVE Mo!

Jordan had a few friends sleep over and have facials...After a long week of spring football practice, a pulled hamstring and loads of homework, Mo was ready to relax at home for the weekend!
Little did he know the house was taken over for giggling, chatty girls who wanted to give HIM a facial. Tanner knew better and left early in the day with his friends.
Mo didn't mind...he even made the girls chicken enchiladas for dinner!
and this is why we LOVE Mo!

and this is why I LOVE my JOB!

I have been VERY busy at work. Besides the figure skating, I organize the youth sports for the county and the field house (U of U football training facility). It's been quite the adventure learning the new programs, countless emails and dealing with parents...but it was all worth it to cross paths with Brother and Sister Nelson on our first day of soccer! They were attending their grandson's game. Sister Nelson was my first Beehive Advisor. When I was 12, she kidnapped me for breakfast and we walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was my first real exposure to the youth program of the LDS religion. I have such fond memories of Girls Camp, youth nights, basketball and much more! It's been over 20 years since we last saw each other. I just love this lady!
Leslie is one of the Nelson's daughters. I had no idea her darling family relocated to Utah. It was a great surprise to reconnect with the soccer program I was involved in. We grew up in Novato, CA. Her brother and I were great friends throughout our youth years!

Black Beauty

After three months, we finally bought a downsized car! This adventure caused much contention for Jason and I. I wanted another mini van...Jason wanted a Mercedes-Benz. We spent MANY weekends at various car lots. I was voted down by the family for another mini van and told it was time to downsize!
I drove everyone nuts by backing out of signing the documents for three different cars. The Mercedes-Benz had too many features and very complicated! Besides, Mo would never have fit in the back seat!
She is perfect...smaller than the "Mothership" but comfortable for our downsizing family!

Meanwhile, the poor Mothership sits in the street. She trembles because she is in the hands of Tanner and Mo. She did us well! I loved this van. Great memories of my Dad in this van and numerous family trips to California!

Typical Tanner!

I receive a text from Tanner informing me of an awards ceremony taking place in a few hours! He asked if I would come. OF COURSE! I was expecting a small event at the high school for a film project...I was so wrong! The awards ceremony was at the Junior College with hundreds of parents, teenagers and many wearing red jackets! The program book was 16 pages... Tanner is very limited with the information he offers to us...Jason and I had no idea what was going on! My jaw dropped when I saw Tanner wearing a shirt, tie and the RED jacket! I knew he was working on a film project, but he seems to always have a project to work on...I noticed much of his time has been spent with football training, so I had no idea he was involved with this event. The ceremony was quite different and strange. By the time I figured out what was going on, Tanner's name was announced taking third place!
He received this fine medal and stood on the podium on the stage. Of course we don't have any photos because we sat in the very back of this large facility!
We are very proud of our Tan Man!
Congratulations!!!

Programs!

Jordan has been busy! Evgeni was back in town to work on her new programs. Her long program is very DIFFERENT. The double axel is beautiful and she is consistently landing them. Now it's working on the triples and getting both programs ready for competition that starts in June! Her website has been updated...take a peak www.jordanking.us

Hanging Out with Mo!

Mo spends most weekends with our family but for Weber State's Spring Break, we got him the whole week and loved every moment. He ran with Tanner at 5:30 am, cooked amazing meals with Jordan, BBQ with Tanner, watched Jordan skate and work at the complex with me. They also watched many, many movies. He even watched Jordan's Disney movies with her!
I can't explain how he has made such a huge impact on our family so quickly. We love how he appreciates "family" and just enjoys our home...something I take for granted. Raising an athlete is surreal. It's year round - dealing with pressure, injuries, mental preparedness and devotion. I love watching Mo and Jordan connect. They understand each other and he has been a great example and a terrific "older brother" for her.
He fits right in with his humor! Mo and Tanner can keep us laughing for hours. Spring training starts this week at Weber. I am excited for what's ahead for Mo...it won't be easy but it will be worth it.
Thanks Mo for finding room in your heart for us! We are proud of you!!!

The Boys are Back in Town

A few of my favorite players returned back to Utah for Pro Days. Robert (left) and RJ (right) had fantastic results. Click here to read the KSL article! Robert finished his bachelor's and RJ has a semester left. I am so proud of them! Both boys have been training with their agents and now we all wait to find out where they will be drafted...the end of April! It's very exciting watching these boys become fine young men and following their careers. I just love them.

Tan Man is BACK!

A few days ago, Tanner sat me down and said, "Mom I have some news for you." I held my breath, dreading to hear what his new adventure may be, or what trouble he is in. I kept telling myself to breath, just breath...it was difficult. I was feeling light headed and my palms were sweaty. I was trying to stay focused and prepare myself with his "news"...within seconds he said, "I have decided to play football my senior year of high school."I couldn't scream for joy because my throat was so dry. I couldn't give him a huge, tight hug because he quivers whenever I try to show any affection towards him. Instead, I felt this huge lump in my throat, my eyes became teary and I said, "That's great news Tan Man." After he left and shut the door, I cried and then I did the boogie dance.
