Adventures of 2009 Broadmoor Open

Another year at Broadmoor, this time Grandma is with us! Jordan is skating in a new level called Novice. We are also dealing with her back but having great success in Colorado. On Wednesday, she competed in her Qualifying Round and placed 4th. She qualified for the final rounds later this week.
As for me, I become very, very sick! Our second night I had a gall bladder attack. New changes for me...No more dairy, No more meat, No more bread! Never going through that pain again (I experienced it 4 times in the past few months) Fortunately, mom took care of me and knew what was going on. The photo of Jordan and I is at my favorite Mexican restaurant. No worries, had shrimp tacos, no flour tortillas, grilled veggies and black beans. Loved it!
Jordan loves this new dress for her short program! On Thursday she competed in a short program event only (you did not have to qualify to compete). She did well and placed 5th.

The scores at the World Arena. Two more competitions to go...

Taylor's High School Graduation

Taylor's Graduation Class of 2009
Huntsman Center
Grandma and Taylor
I love having my mom around. It was a special, memorable week for me and the family.

Jason and I loved spending this evening together and watching how much our family has grown!

Aunt Missy, Tanner (his usual self), Taylor and Jordan

Taylor and his sweet girlfriend, Jasmine
Jasmine's parents also attended the graduation to support Taylor. What a great family. We loved spending the evening together and look forward to many more gatherings.

Tan Man and his friend, Cedar.

The "MC's"
(Middle Child Club)

Taylor and his high school counselor, Tony.
We have spent MANY visits in Tony's office with Taylor over the past four years. He was just as excited as we were to watch him graduate. Taylor and Tony had a special connection!
The past few months we have grown so close. Taylor is becoming a fine young man and my prayers are being answered. It's so hard to watch them make horrible decisions and mistakes but there is burning joy and complete gratitude watching your children become young adults. I felt so much healing during his graduation. Taylor was so proud. One of my favorite memories was watching him walk with his class inside the Huntsman Center and search for us in the crowd. I noticed my sweet little boy. No matter what happens in his life, I know he will always be searching for us with that angelic look and his family will always be there cheering him on.
I love you Taylor...always and forever!

Jordan's Promotion and Celebration Dinner

Last Promotion!!! My mom and I attended Jordan's Promotion from 8th Grade. It was the last promotion in the old Clayton School. Can you believe it? Our last baby in Middle School!!!
The same evening, we had a family dinner for Taylor and Jordan. Jordan is holding my cousin's little girl, Kelly.

Update on Cordero: He moved out a few months ago into his own place in Salt Lake City. Cordero will be attending the University of Utah in the fall with the early admissions program. He is replacing his senior year of high school as a freshman in college!

Just missing Aunt Sam! My mom and her brothers...

Off He Goes...

It's OFFICIAL...Taylor has his driver's license!!! He is so excited and proud to finally have his license and the trooper. What a wild ride raising him in his teens, it is an overwhelming feeling to watch him FINALLY have his license and car!
He finally earned the trooper that we bought three years ago. His girlfriend, Jasmine has already claimed "Shot Gun" and I am sure will decorate her side of the seat. She is so cute and just as excited as Taylor!

I left him with a full tank of gas and told him this is it! From here on out, you pay insurance, gas and any other expenses for this car. It's your baby!!!

and off he went...
It was a wonderful day spending it with Taylor. In someways I felt like I accomplished a huge milestone. Remember that first time driving without parents in the car??? Taylor earned his Eagle (family rule), paid his time doing stupid things (not a family rule), got his act together, bought a few bikes and walked MANY miles to work and school to FINALLY have this moment of driving away in his car...as a parent, it was worth it! Incredible feeling to watch him become an adult.
and then there is this one! Oh, how I dislike the age of SIXTEEN!!! Finding strength for this one...
